Event Brand Refresh
Moveworks.global 2024
Role: Lead Visual Designer
Scope: Visual identity, system design, art direction
Deliverables: Event brand system, key art, style guide, scalable templates
Overview
Moveworks.global is an annual conference convening leaders, partners and customers around the future of work and AI. Following the inaugural 2023 event, the 2024 conference presented an opportunity to evolve the visual identity to reflect increased scale, ambition and global reach.
The objective was to refine and systematize the existing identity, preserving brand equity while improving cohesion, flexibility and clarity across all touchpoints.
Challenge
The original event identity introduced strong conceptual foundations around movement and community, expressed through abstract circular forms. However, as the event expanded, the visual system lacked the structure needed to scale consistently across formats, partners and production timelines.
Key challenges:
-
Maintaining brand continuity while evolving the look and feel
-
Creating a system flexible enough for a wide range of applications
-
Establishing clearer rules to support internal teams and external vendors
Approach
I began with a visual audit of the existing event assets to identify inconsistencies in composition, hierarchy and application. While the core idea remained strong, the system needed tighter constraints and clearer logic.
The refined visual language focused on:
-
Orbs as narrative anchors, representing connection, momentum and the collective movement of the Moveworks community
-
Structured, UI-inspired grids to introduce rhythm, hierarchy and scalability
-
Intentional contrast between motion and structure, balancing energy with clarity
This approach allowed the identity to feel dynamic while remaining disciplined and repeatable.
System & Execution
I developed a modular visual system supported by a comprehensive style guide, defining:
-
Typography hierarchy and scale
-
Grid behavior and layout principles
-
Color usage across digital, print and environmental formats
-
Guidelines for imagery, motion and composition
The system was designed to be easily adopted by cross-functional teams and external vendors, ensuring visual consistency across all event materials.
Outcome
The refreshed identity provided a cohesive, elevated visual foundation for the 2024 conference, supporting a wide range of deliverables including large-format signage, digital marketing assets, presentation templates and on-site materials.
By introducing a clearer structure without sacrificing expressiveness, the system enabled faster production, stronger consistency and a more polished attendee experience across every touchpoint.
Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of balancing creative expression with operational clarity at scale. Designing for a global event required thinking beyond individual assets and focusing on systems that empower others to execute with confidence.
